Dr Albertina So studied medicine at the University of New South Wales, graduating in 2000 and completing her residency years at the Westmead Hospital. In 2007, Dr So was awarded a PhD and Dean's commendation on genetics of primary hyperaldosteronism from the University of Queensland. She went on to train as an anatomical pathologist at various institutions in south-east Queensland including the Royal Brisbane Women's and Children's Hospital, the Mater Hospital and the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Dr So joined Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology's Toowoomba laboratory in late 2013 and has been actively involved in the local medical community having been previously a committee member of the Toowoomba and Darling Downs local medical association. Besides attending regular interdisciplinary clinical meetings with colleagues in other specialities to review and discuss cases, she also consults with local general practitioners about patient management. Dr So also attends multiple rural general practitioner clinics in Toowoomba and the Darling Downs to develop positive relationships with clinicians and to improve service delivery.

Dr So is very much involved with disseminating medical updates and education through the organisation of multiple conferences in the local community. She also mentors registrars and scientists and regularly attends national and international meetings.
